State police: Suspect rushed to hospital after officer-involved shooting

PIKE COUNTY, Ky., (WKYT) - Kentucky State Police say a trooper shot a suspect Wednesday night in Pike County.

According to Trooper Shaun Little, the man has been rushed to Pikeville Medical Center. There's no word on his condition at this time.

Little says several troopers were present during the shooting, however no one with law enforcement was injured.

The shooting happened just before midnight at a home in the Island Creek community, just outside the city of Pikeville, according to police.

Police are not releasing the names of the trooper or the person involved at this time.

Troopers from other posts are being called in to help with the investigation.
