The Department of Education announced Friday the names of 11 students representing districts statewide who have been selected to serve on a new group formed by Kentucky Education Commissioner Terry Holliday.
The group is called the Next-Generation Student Council and it is made up of students from 10th to 12th grades. The students will meet with Holliday both in person and via computer, with the first meeting set for Feb. 28 in Frankfort.
The students will serve during the 2011-2012 school year and may reapply to serve again if they aren't graduating seniors.
