Storms blamed for Fayette County power outages

Updated: Wed 4:53 PM, Jan 30, 2013

LEXINGTON, Ky. (WKYT) - Wednesday's storms left many people in the dark.

Briar Hill Road in Lexington is closed because of downed trees and power lines.

Hundreds in that were left without power because of the storms.

Families we talked to say the power went out as they were trying to get ready for work and school during the height of the storm.

They say they could hear the tree branches fall and are grateful the damage wasn't worse.

"Just some limbs down and certainly some damage in the area," says Kathy Love. "I think we were really lucky given the January storms like this."

Love says her power was restored and about two and a half hours after it went out.

According to Kentucky Utilities, there are still scattered outages in Fayette County.
