Storms usher in much cooler air

Scattered showers and thunderstorms will continue to push across the region tonight. A few of these could be strong with high winds and small hail. The main threats will be heavy rain and lightning.

Much cooler air blows in for Thursday with highs in the upper 70s under a drying sky. Lows by Friday will drop into the middle 50s with afternoon highs in the low 80s.

Saturday turns steamy ahead of another push of cool air that arrives late in the weekend. That will bring an increase in showers and booming thunderstorms late Saturday into Sunday.

The air coming in behind this front looks very much like fall. Highs Monday through Wednesday will be in the 70s as lows drop to near record cold readings.
