Many families in central Kentucky spent the evening cleaning up after the storms.

Off highway 52, the storms toppled multiple trees in one homes yard. "It sort of kind of hit like that, very fast. I've been in storms before but nothing like that." Maguey Lokey describes what she experienced today as the storms traveled through Madison County.

"I saw those trees and I saw trees falling, so I went upstairs to get the other two dogs. I couldn't get to the basement cause I couldn't see down the stairs cause the lights were out."

Lokey tells us she felt the basement was the safest place to be since her house is surrounded by trees. "I could hear the trees falling, one by one, and I just thought this is it! A tree is going to land on my house. Then I start praying, I needed some protection cause I didn't know what was going to happen. I was alone and I was scared to death."

Lokey's family and neighbors came home within minutes of the storms stopping.

There was no damage to their home but she says the clean up with be tedious. "We haven't had something like this happen since the ice storms. This is going to take a while to clean up."

There were other reports of trees down throughout the county. One family had a tree fall on their brand new car.
