Strangers to help Estill Co. teen with parents' funeral

ESTILL COUNTY, Ky. (WKYT) - Joe Snowden lost both of his parents within a two week period. Snowden, 18, is a student at Estill County High School. Paying for two funerals is tough on anyone, especially a teenager. A man from Jessamine County is helping and wants others to do the same.

Dennis King does not know Snowden or his family. He heard about Snowden losing his father to cancer and losing his mother to a car accident.

"It's just got to be overwhelming to him," said King.

King plans to donate $500 to defer some of the funeral costs for the family. He'd like to see others help too.

"I figure if everybody can help out a little bit. Then, it won't be a burden on any one person," said King.

Snowden's teachers and friends are doing their part as well. They raised enough money to pay for his senior trip and will continue collecting to help with funeral costs.

It's best to send any donations to Toler's Funeral Home in Irvine, care of Joe Snowden.
