Our focus now turns to the potential of record lows this morning. Many areas will finish with thermometers below zero.
DANVILLE, Ky. (WKYT) -- Danville police say thieves got away with hundreds of dollars worth of property from the Bluegrass Subdivision in one night after a string of car break-ins.
It happened early Wednesday morning. One of the victims says they noticed some items missing from their vehicle and called police.
They eventually found a backpack that had been taken and rummaged through, it had been left on their front porch.
Police say other victims weren't as lucky. At one home an ipad was taken from a car.
At another a back window was smashed and more than 500 worth of goods were taken from an SUV. The owner told police she heard the car alarm go off around 4:30 a.m., but didn't see the damage so she didn't call police.
One of the victims says this subdivision is normally a quiet place.
"We couldn't believe that somebody would have stolen that out of his car, nothing never happens here, we were just really in disbelief," said Sandra Baskin.
Police say they often see an increase in these types of crimes this time of year.
