Student brings switchblade to Lexington middle school

LEXINGTON, Ky. (WKYT) -- Letters went home to parents at a Lexington middle school Thursday afternoon after a switchblade was found on a student.

In the letter, the Morton Middle principal says the student had the knife in his backpack. It was discovered during a class change.

The principal says while they have no reason to believe any students were in danger, charges will be filed against the student who brought the switchblade to school because it is considered a weapon under state law.

The student will not only face criminal charges, but will also face administrative consequences through the school district.
