Students react to viral choir video

LEXINGTON, Ky. (WKYT) – Some students from Tates Creek High School are getting a taste of the national spotlight after being in viral video.

It's a tradition that each night at 11 p.m. everyone comes out of their balconies of the 18 story Hyatt Hotel in Louisville.

Everything stops and choir students from around Kentucky sing the National Anthem.

This year's tradition was different.

The video went viral within minutes as a tribute to the U.S. Olympic Team competing in Sochi, Russia.

"Beyond the National Anthem and just being a part of that, it’s cool just seeing how much talent lies in Kentucky, for vocal music," said Blake Taylor, a senior at Tates Creek High School.
He and Carolyn Clements were there and were interviewed by a national media outlet Monday.

"It was such a great opportunity,” said Clements. “I loved getting to share something that we loved getting to do and loved being a part of. It was such a privilege and honor to share that with people."

Their choir teacher couldn't be more proud.

"It’s like our little secret in Kentucky is now out for all the world to see that these kids are working hard and doing some great stuff here, " said Meg Stohlman.
