LEXINGTON, Ky. (WKYT) - We spoke with a few residents living inside this apartment building where the latest suspicious fire was set. They say they're feeling very uneasy right now and not safe in their own homes.
"I've lived here a year June 1st of this year," said resident Thomas Clark.
Clark says he's seen his fill of crime in the area around his apartment. This latest incident happened inside his building, just two floors up.
"Here recently we've had a lot of problems with security. This is supposed to be a secure building," Clark pointed out.
But it's not. An exterior door to the building has been removed from it's hinges. Clark says he believes someone could have easily gotten in and set a fire if they wanted to.
We have a call into the company that manages the apartment complex about what they're doing to make the building safer.
The case is now in the hands of fire investigators, who already have their hands full with about half a dozen other suspicious fires in the area.
"To be honest with you, because of the on-goings of late, and in the last few months, I'm actually looking to relocate," said Clark.
A woman told police she put out the fire in the vacant apartment, and described seeing a man running from the scene.
