Thousands attend grand opening of new outlet mall

SHELBY COUNTY, Ky. (WKYT) - Thousands of people, who were lucky enough to avoid that traffic mess on I-64, have arrived for the grand opening of the Outlet Shoppes of the Bluegrass

Even as the ribbon cutting ceremony was taking place, shoppers filed into the already opened stores and they have plenty to choose from.

"I think it's going to be, like, nerve-racking. You know, if you see something that you like, you want to try and get it first," Madison Jennigs said.

Outlet officials tell us all of the spaces inside the mall are already leased and only three weren't opening their doors just yet, but opening day shoppers still found their favorites.

Some people we spoke with traveled a good distance just to get to the outlet mall.

"Well I was going to get a map to go to each one. But I think I'm going to go to each one without the map. I mean, I'm on vacation so I'm just going to take my time and go to each store," Latoya Wilson said.

According to our Waze drivers, traffic has been at a standstill in the west bound lanes of I-64 near the exit.
