LOUISVILLE, Ky. (AP) - Tarzan is turning 100, and a birthday party for the Edgar Rice Burroughs character is planned at the University of Louisville, where the Special Collections Department has a large collection of materials about the jungle man.

Among the guests invited to the event Sunday are Burroughs' grandson, John R. Burroughs; film star Denny Miller, who was in the 1959 "Tarzan the Ape Man"; Burroughs expert Scott Tracy Griffin, whose "Tarzan: The Centennial Celebration" is due out next Tuesday; and Robin Maxwell, author of "Jane: The Woman Who Loved Tarzan."

The event is at 3:30 p.m. EDT in Ekstrom Library's Chao Auditorium. The program will include an exhibit of vintage posters and film stills, book signings and presentations, as well as cake. The event is free and open to the public.
