Teen charged with threatening judges, prosecutor

LEXINGTON, Ky. (AP) - Court records show an eastern Kentucky teen is facing charges after accusations that he threatened to kill two federal judges and a prosecutor.

The Lexington Herald-Leader cited a sworn statement by Deputy U.S. Marshal Rick Kelley in reporting that the student is accused of making the statements to a school counselor at the Appalachian Challenge Academy in Harlan County. The statement says the student threatened to shoot those involved in prosecuting his father on a child porn charge.

Kelley said there was reason to believe the student would carry out the threats against judges David Bunning and Edward Atkins and prosecutor Jason Denny.

Court records show the student has been involuntarily hospitalized since being evaluated by a psychologist last month.
