Updated: Mon 8:10 PM, Sep 10, 2012

ROCKCASTLE COUNTY, Ky. (WKYT) - A family tells us they are still searching for answers after a teenager was the victim in a hit and run in Rockcastle county this weekend.

The mother of 17-year-old Jared Johnson tells us he is in intensive care at UK Hospital.

Johnson was hit while walking on Scaffold Cane Road, not far from his home early Saturday morning.

His mother tells us he had a successful brain surgery yesterday, and will have surgery on his legs tomorrow.

She also tells us he was able to respond for the first time today.
