HARRISON COUNTY, Ky. (WKYT) - A teenager, injured in a car crash over the weekend in Harrison County, has died.

18-year old Cynthia Neace died at UK Hospital.

The Harrison County Sheriff says Neace was the passenger in the car traveling along Highway 62, north of Cynthiana, on Saturday night.
A witness traveling behind the car told deputies it appeared the driver lost control on the slick roads and left the roadway. The car landed on the passenger's side.

Sheriff Bruce Hampton says their car went so far off the road, that if no one had witnessed the crash, the victims might not have been found for some time.

Sheriff Hampton says that once emergency crews arrived they had to cut open the car to remove Neace, and the driver, Kristina Noble, from the vehicle. Investigators say both girls were wearing seatbelts.

Both girls were airlifted to UK Hospital for treatment. Neace died on Monday at the hospital.

Neace graduated from Harrison County High School back in May. School officials say they will have grief counselors available to students throughout the day.
