Teen drowns in southern Kentucky river

Updated: Mon 11:50 PM, Jul 02, 2012

Three teens were swimming in a southern Kentucky river, when investigators say an undertow pulled 16-year-old Jesse Lee Pratt under, causing him to drown.

It happened late Monday afternoon near Bee Rock Campground in the Daniel Boone National Forrest of Pulaski County.

Family members say Pratt lives close to where the accident happened. His family did not know he was swimming there at the time.

The area is known for its dangerous undertow, according to Pratt's parents.

We're told Pratt's friends tried to save him after he went under water, but they were unable to.
