Teen killed in crash

Kentucky State Police say a 17-year-old was killed Sunday night when the teen lost control of an SUV. State Police say Alma Martinez Flores did not have a license and had only been in the US for less than a year.

The SUV left the right side of KY 210, near the Hardin/Larue County line, around 6:12pm Sunday.

State Police say Flores, who was from Hodgenville, over corrected and lost control of the vehicle. The Ford Explorer went down an embankment, struck a tree and overturned before coming to a rest in the upright position.

Troopers say Flores was partially ejected and pronounced dead at the scene by the Hardin County Coroner. They say everyone in the SUV was properly restrained and alcohol does not appear to be a factor.

An adult passenger, 22-year-old Christian Carvajal Lopez, suffered serious but non life threatening injuries and was flown to U-of-L Hospital. State Police say another passenger, 2-year-old Yamilet Calderon, also had serious, but non-life threatening injuries. The toddler was taken to Kosair's Children's Hospital.
