LEXINGTON, Ky. (WKYT) - Police have two teenagers in custody after a burglary.
Investigators caught the pair outside a Kroger store after the break-in on Irvine Road Tuesday afternoon.
Lexington Police tell us it began after a woman dropped her keys outside her car while on her way in to work Thursday morning. Police believe three teenagers found the keys, stole her car, and then looked around for her car's registration. Police say the teens went to the home listed on the registration, got inside and tried to walk out with a TV and a coin collection.
A contractor working on a home across the street saw something suspicious and tried to stop the teens.
"One of them come around the side of the car and I got a hold of the back of his hoodie for about two seconds and he took off," said Sage Colucci, "and I cornered one over there in the driveway and he took off the other way."
Police were able to arrest two teens, but a third got away.
"When the adrenaline kicks in you do what you think's best so that's what I did. So that's what I'd want my neighbor or someone that saw it in my house to do," explained Colucci.
The homeowners plan to call Colucci to thank him for his help.
