Arctic temperatures make working outside a challenge

LEXINGTON, Ky. (WKYT) - People all across the region are feeling the affects of the Tuesday's brisk weather.

While many of us can stay inside, not everyone is so lucky.

Shane Squires is the assistant manager at Jeff's Car Wash.

After three years on the job, he says this is one of the colder days he's worked.

"If you're standing out there, you're definitely going to want a good pair of gloves and a good pair of boots," Squires says.

He tells us dealing with the cold and trying to get work done can be a challenge.

"This right here is one of the more challenging things when it gets cold. Is after your fingers get so cold and numb, that you kind of get to where you don't feel your fingers anymore, so it's a visual job at that point."

Workers at the car wash also have to be on the lookout for ice on the ground.

Despite the cold, Squires is trying to look on the bright side.

"It's a challenging job sometimes, I'll be honest with you, where it's just so cold. But at least we have a job, that's how you have to look at the positive aspect of it."
