Updated: Tue 10:57 AM, Jan 08, 2013

PADUCAH, Ky. (AP) - Testimony has begun in the case of a man charged with killing his daughter's friend.

Mark Taylor is charged with murder, kidnapping and tampering with evidence in the death of 21-year-old CaSondra Evrard, who was found dead in a creek bed with stab wounds to her chest and cuts to her neck and face on Dec. 11, 2010. He was one of seven people charged in connection to the death.

The Paducah Sun reports some of the first people called to testify in McCracken Circuit Court on Monday included the defendant's wife, Jamie Taylor, and his niece, Destini Marshall, both of whom have entered guilty pleas to different charges in the case.

Prosecutors have said they will ask for a death sentence for Taylor if he's convicted.
