Thief takes deputy jailer's badge in Frankfort car break-in

FRANKFORT, Ky. (WKYT) - Frankfort Police are asking the public to be on the lookout for an officer's stolen badge.

Frankfort Police alerted WKYT to the theft Friday morning. They say someone broke into a deputy jailer's personal vehicle overnight and stole a number of items, including that jailer's badge. Police tell us the jailer's car was unlocked.

Police are also looking into at least three other car thefts in the city Thursday night and into Friday morning. At this time, they're not sure if the thefts are connected. They also aren't sure if the thief targeted the deputy's car, or randomly found the badge while searching inside it for other valuable items.

Police have issued a bulletin asking law enforcement throughout the area to be on the the lookout for this stolen badge. The deputy jailer's badge resembles a police officer's badge, with a shield background.
