Thieves steal thousands in copper at Lexington school

LEXINGTON, Ky. (WKYT) - Lexington Police are investigating a copper theft at a middle school.

The copper was taken from a construction site at Jesse Clark Middle School on Clays Mill Road.

The thieves cut the lock off of a gate and removed a Bobcat from in front of the trailer, where the copper was stored. The construction site foreman says that they cleared a whole rack of copper and another pile of scrap, worth thousands of dollars.

The criminals also broke into another trailer, but didn't get anything out of it.
