Three generations escape Lexington house fire

LEXINGTON, Ky. (WKYT) - A mother was quick to jump into action after a fire broke out at her Lexington home.

It began around 12:30 Monday morning at the home on Leitner Court, in the Winburn neighborhood. The homeowner said smoke detectors woke her up, and she noticed a fire coming from her window-unit air conditioner. The woman said she pushed the burning unit out of the window. She said she then used a garden hose to try and put out the flames before a neighbor rush to help and told her to get to safety.

The woman, her two children and their grandmother safely made it out of the home. The Red Cross was notified and helped the family find a temporary place to stay while the home is repaired.
