DANVILLE, Ky. (WKYT) - DANVILLE, Ky. (WKYT) - It was something people who live on Lexington Avenue say they are not used to seeing. A crash....an attack...and a man yelling that others were trying to kill him.
From his West Lexington Street window Chip Horton witnessed something that will soon be hard to forget. People outside beating another person with the victim yelling for help.
“And they were fighting I guess, it was the driver in the car yelling at the guys to get in the car,” said Horton.
Police say the victim is 30 year old Hugh Parker who walking on the sidewalk when a 2003 Chevy Impala almost ran him down. That car then crashed into a fence and several from the car got out and police say started beating Parker with hammers.
“I don’t know if they were holding him or what but he was screaming,’ somebody help me they’re going to kill me,’” Horton said.
Police say the driver of the car is 25 year old Desmond Brock. He along with 25 year old Darryl Whitley and his sister Megan, 22, are all wanted on second degree assault charges. A warrant was also issued for Brock on wanton endangerment charges. A very violent crime in what Horton calls an otherwise very peaceful area.
“Kind of frightening. (These are) neighborhoods that try very hard to keep it quiet, peaceful, and safe,” said Horton.
Parker suffered serious cuts on his face. Paramedics responded very quickly and witnesses say the ambulance showed up without any lights or sirens on. Boyle EMS said the ambulance crew was likely returning from another run and just happened to see Parker who needed help. However neither police nor EMS had any more information on Parker’s condition.
