LEXINGTON, Ky. (WKYT) - A Lexington mother faces charges after police say they found her two young children alone on a street.
Police arrested 27-year-old Brittany Nutter at her home on Sherard Circle near Laredo Drive.
On any given day, people who live in that neighborhood say kids are always outside playing this time of year. But on Monday, a Lexington police officer came across two toddlers playing somewhere they shouldn't and that in the middle of the street.
Police tell us they were unattended and could have been hit by a car. Their mother was found inside her nearby home.
When WKYT arrived on scene, police cruisers lined the street. And a woman was being arrested.
We later learned the woman's name is Brittany Nutter. Police say she's 27 years old and the mother of the two small children found on Sherard Circle.
She didn't have anything to say as she was arrested. We also tried talking with family and neighbors, but no one wanted to comment on what happened.
Nutter has been charged with two counts of wanton endangerment.
Nutter's father did not want to go on camera but did say the toddlers are safe and are now with their grandmother.
