LEXINGTON, Ky. (WKYT) - It's a parent's worst nightmare, a child vanishing without a trace.

Lydia Perkins was just 14-years-old when she disappeared from a Lexington street corner in October 1997.

"She's always with me, she's in my heart and no one can ever-ever take that away from me," Sherry Thompson said.

Perkins mother, Sherry Thompson said not a day goes by that she doesn't think about her daughter.

"It didn't get better. It gets worse, because as time goes by more likely something has happened," she said.

Little is known about Lydia's disappearance, Thompson said her daughter was last seen outside of a friends home on Londonderry Drive in the Cardinal Valley neighborhood.

"If you know anything about my daughter, please contact us or police," Thompson pleaded. "If you did anything to my daughter please just let us know, it's time to put my whole family at rest."

With the 15th anniversary of her disappearance tomorrow, the National Center for missing and exploited children has released an age progressed picture, hoping someone may have information on what happened to her.

Now 29 years old, Lydia, is a white female with red hair and hazel eyes. When last seen she was 4 feet 11 inches tall and weighed 90 pounds. She has a brown circular birthmark on the right side of her neck, a scar on her right eyebrow, and a scar in the center of her forehead.

The public is urged to call the 1-8000-THE-LOST (1-800-843-5678) with any information they have concerning the disappearance or current whereabouts of Lydia. Calls are kept confidential and may be made anonymously.
