A major winter storm is on the way to the bluegrass state. Local high water issues are possible early Wednesday and that will be followed up by heavy snow and sleet. Significant accumulations are likely Wednesday night and Thursday.
The National Weather Service says damage left in Frankfort Wednesday was the result of a twister.
They say the tornado began around 1:29am 1 mile southwest of Frankfort . It's been classified as an EF0 with wind speeds of 65-70 mph.
The NWS says the tornado damaged several trees and knocked shingles off of houses. The most intense damage was found near the Frankfort Cemetery and the Frankfort Capitol building. No one was injured in the storm.
