Our winter storm is shattering records. 17.1" of snow fell in Lexington and that's the most ever recorded during a two day snowstorm. We've had 32.1" of snow in the last 17 days.
We're rolling our way into Super Bowl weekend on a much milder note. Thermometers hit the 40s across the area today and may head toward 50 degrees on Saturday. This mild air is ahead of a strong cold front that swings in here Saturday night.
Showers will develop along and ahead of this front Saturday evening and continue into Sunday morning. Colder air sweeps in for our big day with highs in the 30s and the chance for a bit of a mix early.
A wave of low pressure will develop along this front Sunday night and bring a swath of wintry weather our way. Accumulating snow will be possible during this time across central and eastern Kentucky. That's something we will continue to track and update through the weekend.
Another system will bring rain, ice and snow our way by the middle of next week.
