Traffic game plan seeks to reduce Rupp tie-ups

FRANKFORT, Ky. (March 19, 2013) – Negotiating a handful of Lexington road construction projects may be as challenging to fans attending the second and third rounds of the NCAA basketball tournament, as a full-court press to a point guard.

While one-lane traffic has occurred recently due to work on KY 922 (Newtown Pike) and U.S. 60 (Versailles Road), the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet anticipates a two-lane traffic flow on both routes before the first tip-off Thursday afternoon.

The Transportation Cabinet suggests the following routes:

• Traffic from the north, east and west via Interstate 75 and Interstate 64 should use exit 113, Broadway to Rupp Arena.

• Traffic from the south via I-75 should use exit 104, Richmond Road.

Tournament goers are also advised to allow extra time due to Rupp Arena’s location in downtown Lexington.
