Traffic jams caused by construction

Updated: Sun 7:38 PM, Aug 19, 2012

If you are driving in London, be prepared for some delays.

The intersection of Kentucky 80, US 25 and Hal Rogers Parkway is under heavy construction.

The Parkway is down to one lane in both directions due to the work.

Crews are removing the last concrete median in the road.

Lanes have been closed since Tuesday morning.

Drivers say that traffic backs up for miles during rush hours.

“You have to go that way to go to town, to go to the store, the gas station, run your errands. So no matter what, or take the kids to school a lot of busses go that way,” said Lesa Frye who works at the nearby Super 8.

Many locals say that it is a busy intersection within the town that everyone uses.

“You have to go that way to go to town, to go to the store, the gas station, run your errands. So no matter what, or take the kids to school a lot of busses go that way,” said Frye

However, some have found a way around the mess.

“I try to pull out of the parking lot and go through several other parking lots to try to avoid it,” said Aaron Cheek, who works at the nearby Days Inn.

The project is expected to last through October 31st.
