Trail of damage leads Lexington police to suspect behind crashes

LEXINGTON, Ky. (WKYT) - Lexington police were kept busy Monday night, working at least five different crash sites that police say were all caused by the same hit-and-run driver.

It began around 10:00 p.m. Monday when police say the driver crashed into a convenience store on Buckhorn Drive. From there, police say he crashed into a car at Richmond Road and Man o'War, then took out a sign in front of the Glen Hyundai car lot. Police say he also drove through a fence at Squires and Dewey.

Police also found a parked car that was damaged on South Eagle Creek. A short time later, police found the suspect on Tuscaloosa Lane. Vachroan Johnson, 38, has been charged with DUI and several counts of fleeing and evading.

Police said no one was injured in this reckless driving incident. But they say that Johnson did cause a lot of damage to several different cars, including his own.

Police tell WKYT that officers were able to catch up to Johnson by following the trail of damage left by the crashes.
