HARRODSBURG, Ky. (WKYT) - The "Cost of Freedom Tribute" opened to the public at noon, but volunteers began their day, setting up the wall, at 7:00 Friday morning.
"The Wall that Heals" bears the name of more than 58,000 soldiers who lost their lives in the Vietnam War. The wall travels to towns across the country almost year-round. This Labor Day weekend, it will be on display at Anderson-Dean Park in Harrodsburg.
Children from several Mercer County schools got the chance to come out and view the display, before it opened to the public. Volunteers say it's important to teach our youth about past wars and to pay respect to those who lost their lives for our country.
The wall will be on display through Labor Day. There are several festivities set to take place at the park throughout the holiday weekend, as well.
