Trial date set for former Lexington teacher

Updated: Fri 12:54 PM, Nov 16, 2012

LEXINGTON, Ky. (WKYT) - Earlier this week we brought you new information about a former Lexington middle school teacher who was indicted by a grand jury on six counts of sodomy and sexual abuse.

In the indictments returned, the grand jury claims the victims are all younger than 18 years old, one being younger than 14.

Today, Jason Thompson's time before a judge was brief, lasting no more than a few minutes, so a trial date could be set.
Allegations that Thompson has had numerous sexual encounters with teenage boys first came to light last November when police interviewed one of his alleged victims.

Police say the abuse occurred in Thompson's Lexington home in the summer of 2009.

Thompson, is a former teacher at Leestown Middle School and a Zumba instructor who traveled all around the globe teaching classes.

Thompson has pleaded not guilty to those charges.
