Two men accused of dragging a horse behind a car in Bath County will go to trial in the case.
Police say Jason Crouch and another man, Jeffry White, tied the horse to the back of a car to lead him to White's house. Witnesses tell police that when the horse fell down, the men kept on driving.
White, who is in jail on unrelated charges, wasn't in court this morning. Officials say he's in the hospital with a serious medical condition.
The horse, named Lucky, was turned over to a rescue operation and continues to improve.
"He's come a long way. He really has. Gaining weight. The wounds are starting to heal," said Sandy Denton, who is caring for Lucky.
White and Crouch have a pretrial conference on November 15. Their trial is scheduled for December 9.
