LEXINGTON, Ky. (WKYT) - "I was blown away. They had started with over a million restaurants and narrowed it down to a hundred," said Kevin Heathcoat, part owner of Bourbon n' Toulouse.
He said news of the honor had gone nationwide before he even knew about it.
"I got a phone call from a customer saying that she saw it in Seattle Times. Called me and asked me if I knew about it and I had no idea!" he said.
Urbanspoon, a national restaurant website, listed Bourbon 'n Toulouse among America's 100 Most Popular Cheap Eats.
"We were just humbled that we were on it. Urbanspoon.com is kind of the go-to for foodies and food reviews," said Heathcoat.
Customers say that honor is well-deserved.
"I think it's awesome. It belongs in the top 100!" said Rachel Overbee.
Bourbon 'n Toulouse wasn't the only Lexington restaurant singled out. Sahara Mediterranean Cuisine was also honored.
"We have a real loyal following. We have customers that come here sometimes five days a week," Stacy Robinson, co-owner of Sahara.
"We not call the customer, customer; we call him family. When he come here we feed him like family," added Sam Sayyed, the other co-owner.
Sayyed said there were three reasons his restaurant made the list.
"Quality food, how we take care of the customer, and the price," he said.
No other Kentucky restaurants made the list.
