Emergency Management Director hurt in Lexington crash

LEXINGTON, Ky. (WKYT) - A scary situation this morning for the woman who leads Fayette County's Emergency Management response team. Pat Dugger's county vehicle was involved in a crash at the intersection of North Upper & West 4th Street.

The collision between Dugger's EMA vehicle and a blue SUV caused Dugger's vehicle to flip onto its top. She was the only person in that vehicle. A woman and child were in the blue SUV. All three people were taken to the hospital. Police at the scene say none of the injuries appeared to be life threatening.

A spokesperson for Lexington Mayor Jim Gray says Dugger is at the hospital getting treatment. A UK Hospital spokesperson says Dugger is in fair condition. The names of the people in the blue SUV have not been released.

Police say it appears one of the SUVs ran a red light at the intersection. They're investigating to determine which vehicle may be at fault.

Dugger has been the head of the county's Emergency Management Agency since its beginning in 1988.
