WHITLEY COUNTY, Ky. (WKYT) - Deputies arrested two men Wednesday after a string of bizarre incidents in Whitley County. It began after the Sheriff's Office received a call from a woman who says a man driving a Mitsubishi Eclipse drove his car into hers several times. Deputies eventually located the suspect, Godfray Tyrell Finley, 26, of Rockmart, Georgia. Investigators say Finley first told deputies he didn't know his name and had no identification on him. He told them his car ran out of gas while he tried to get away from cars chasing him. Deputies took Finley to the Sheriff's Office where Whitley County EMS checked him out. Deputies say the searched the vehicle and found he was wanted out of Georgia for forgery. They say they also discovered the vehicle belonged to Alex Poole, 22, of Arago, Georgia. Deputies say Finley eventually admitted to being wanted in Georgia and trying to conceal his identity. He told deputies Poole had jumped out of the vehicle on I-75, near the four mile marker.
While questioning Finley, deputies received a call about a man matching Poole's description walking along I-75. Deputies say it was Poole and took him in for questioning. They tell us he tried to pull a pistol from his shorts as he was being led into the courthouse. Deputies say there was a short struggle before they disarmed and secured him. They say they also found 30 grams of meth and a small amount of marijuana.
Finley is charged with leaving the scene of an accident, wanton endangerment and criminal mischief. Poole is charged with carrying a concealed deadly weapon, resisting arrest, possession of a controlled substance and possession of marijuana.
