Two arrested after violent robbery at Lexington hotel

LEXINGTON, Ky. (WKYT) - Lexington police made a couple of quick arrests after a violent robbery at a hotel overnight.

Police were called around 10:00 p.m. Tuesday night after someone heard arguing and a gunshot at the Extended Stay Hotel on Richmond Road.

Police say a man and woman answered their door and found two men, one armed with a gun and the other holding a baseball bat. They demanded cash, but the victim refused. That's when police say the suspects fired a shot at the woman inside, and the other started hitting the man in the head with the bat.

The two suspects were able to steal some cash before they took off.

Police found William Burgin and Troy Martin walking near the scene. Both were arrested and charged with Robbery, Wanton Endangerment and Tampering with Physical evidence.

Police say they found the gun and bat used in the robbery tossed in bushes near the scene of the crime.
