A heavy rainmaker is set to move into our region later today. The bulk of the heaviest rain is overnight into tomorrow with a Flash Flood Watch in effect.
BATH COUNTY, Ky. (WKYT) - Kentucky State Police have released the names of both victims in an early morning wreck in Bath County.
It happened around 2 a.m. Saturday, on I-64 near the 119 mile marker, just outside Owingsville.
The victims are identified as Morgan Michelle Hopkins, 23, of Fayette County and James Weaver, 77, of Fleming County.
According to state police, 23-year-old Morgan Michelle Hopkins was traveling eastbound in a car when she veered off the road, over-corrected and went over the median, flipping into oncoming traffic where she hit an oncoming truck.
Hopkins and the driver of the truck, 77-year-old James Weaver were both pronounced dead at the scene by Bath County coroner Robbie Powell.
There were no passengers in either vehicle.
Police say neither drugs nor alcohol appear to be a factor in the wreck. It remains under investigation by Kentucky State Police.
