Two former Fayette Co. deputies sentenced for stealing confiscated guns

LEXINGTON, Ky. (WKYT) - A judge sentenced two former Fayette County Deputies to prison Wednesday for stealing guns confiscated by the sheriff's office.

Bill Beers and Merle McDaniel pleaded guilty earlier this month.

McDaniel, who sold two of the stolen guns to a pawn shop, was sentenced to 120 days - home incarceration.

McDaniel was also ordered to pay $1,000 in restitution to the Fayette County Sheriff's Office.

Bill Beers, who returned guns he had confiscated from domestic violence cases, was sentenced to 60 days home incarceration.

According to the Fayette County Sheriff's Office, one of the guns McDaniel pawned was never recovered.
