Two hurt in fiery crash in Woodford Co. involving tractor

WOODFORD COUNTY, Ky. (WKYT) - U.S. 60 is closed just outside Versailles after a fiery crash.

A car and farm tractor collided near Steele Road. The tractor, which is used for mowing, caught fire.

Versailles Police said it appeared the woman was heading outbound toward Frankfort on 60 W. when she collided with a tractor that was crossing all four lanes.

"The driver of the tractor failed to yield the right-of-way to oncoming traffic, and pulled directly into the path of the passenger car causing the passenger car to T-bone the tractor," said Lieutenant Daniel Clark with Versailles Police.

Lieutenant Clark said the fiery crash scene could've been much worse. But it did back up traffic for more than an hour as crews worked to clean up the mess after rushing the two people involved to the hospital.

One woman who lives nearby described what she saw and heard.

"I just heard a really loud noise, came out of the house, and came out and saw just a big plume of smoke, really dark and couldn't even see through it it was so dark," Becky Jones said.

Jones tells us the tractor belongs to Pin Oak Stud farm.
No other vehicles were involved in the crash.

Both the man and woman were rushed to UK Hospital with what we're told are serious, but nonlife threatening injuries. The man had burns to his arms and back.
