LEXINGTON, Ky. (WKYT) - Police were on scene for hours, after a serious crash shut down a busy Lexington Road.
It happened Sunday night, just before midnight, on New Circle Road near the Leestown Exit.
Lexington police say the driver lost control, went over an embankment, causing the SUV to flip several times. That section of New Circle was blocked for five hours, as accident reconstruction crews investigated the crash.
Officials say a female passenger in the SUV was ejected. She was taken to UK Hospital in critical condition.
The driver, Richard Thompson, III, of Lexington, was also taken to UK. He's listed in stable condition.
Police say they suspect alcohol played a role in this crash, but so far, no one has been charged.
