Two men behind two armed robberies in Lexington

LEXINGTON, Ky. (WKYT) - Police believe two men were behind two different overnight robberies in Lexington.

The first happened at the Circle K on Buckhorn Drive. Just before 1:00 Friday morning, police say two men went up to the clerk, who was outside smoking. Both of the men had guns and were wearing masks. Police say the robbers forced the clerk inside the store. They then stole money and cigarettes.

Then just before 2:00, police say two men held up a Speedway station on Paris Pike. The robbers had the same description as the first crime. They also stole money and cigarettes, leading police to believe the two robberies are connected.

"I know it was money and cigarettes, so it's consistent with the suspects description matches from the other robbery," said Lt. Clayton Roberts, with Lexington Police.

In both cases, the men were wearing masks. One has a medium build and medium height. The other was shorter and heavy set.

"We'll be diligent as always. We ask for the public's help. If you see something, or somebody acting suspicious at the stores this late of an hour, then call us and give us a heads up," added Lt. Roberts.

Police are reviewing surveillance video to try and identify the gunmen.
