Two men sought in violent Lexington robbery

LEXINGTON, Ky. (WKYT) -- Two men are at large after police say they robbed a Lexington jewelry store in broad daylight on Saturday.

The suspects were caught on camera as the incident unfolded around 2 p.m.

Sunday, we talked with the victim's nephew, who says he was shocked to learn about what happened.

It seemed like a normal day. Everybody was doing, going about their normal things.

But it only took a minute for Edwin Martinez to realize it was not a normal day at his uncle's shop, Alexandria Jewelry on Alexandria Drive.

"When I came over here, I just seen him all bloody faced and everything," said Martinez.

Surveillance footage from inside shows two men, who appear to be customers approach the owner. One points a gun at him before striking him repeatedly with the weapon.

It's at that point, the other man jumps over the jewelry counter to steal whatever he get his hands on.

"To tell you how much it was worth, I don't really know. But, I am pretty sure it was a lot," said Martinez.

While some inventory is missing, Martinez is just glad his uncle survived.

"Luckily, it didn't escalate to anything more than a bump in the head."

Martinez hopes that someone will recognize the men in this video and call police, because until they're in jail, he's concerned they could strike again.

We're going to start coming out here more often and going outside. If there is no business over there, we'll come back here. Back and forth. Checking up on each other.
