Two people face charges after crash in Nicholasville

JESSAMINE COUNTY, Ky. (WKYT)- Two people are facing charges after they attempted to steal a vehicle and then crashed it.

It happened around 6:00 this Thursday morning.

Police say Travas Stevens, 31, of Nicholasville and Brittany Van Meter, 24, of Nicholasville, took a 1998 Isuzu from Miles Road early this morning and hit a tree on Old Railroad Road.

Police say they left the vehicle and then went to Ethel Road, where they attempted to take a 1989 Oldsmobile passenger car.

Police say when they arrived at the scene, the victim had already caught Stevens and was holding him until police arrived.

Both suspects were taken to the Jessamine County Detention Center.
Stevens is charged with leaving the scene of an accident, failure to render aid, resisting arrest, alcohol intoxication in a public place, third degree terroristic threatening, third degree assault on a police officer and two counts of theft by unlawful taking.

Van Meter is charged with leaving the attempted car theft and two counts of theft by unlawful taking.
