WINCHESTER, Ky. (WKYT) - A former Scott County High School football standout pleaded guilty to murder, along with his former girlfriend Thursday afternoon.
Percy Hargrove, 36, was arrested after a 33-year-old Andrew Ingram's murder in 2011. The second person arrested in the case - Hargrove's former girlfriend, 26-year-old Sheena Tipton. Winchester Police say Ingram was shot in December of 2011, at a home on Whitney Court.
Police say Hargrove and Ingram knew each other because both had a relationship with Tipton.
Thursday, Tipton pleaded guilty to an amended charge of facilitation to murder and facilitation to burglary. She'll serve two consecutive five year sentences, for a total of ten. Could have faced the death penalty if she'd pleaded not guilty and gone to trial.
Hargrove pleaded guilty Thursday to murder and burglary charges. The tampering charge against him was dropped. He'll serve 20 years for murder, seven years for burglary. The sentences are to be served consecutively for 27 years. Because it was a violent offense, he has to serve at 85% of that sentence. He also could have faced the death penalty if he'd gone to trial.
Sentencing is set to be held in Clark County on January 16th at 1:30 p.m.
