UK Board of Trustees to vote on practice facility proposal

LEXINGTON, Ky. (WKYT) - The project proposal consists of a new two story building, two practice fields and a drill area, all located at the east end of the Nutter Field House.

"The two story structure for the football program will house administrative offices, locker spaces, team meeting areas, training areas, high-performance weight room spaces, equipment rooms, a hydrotherapy room, player locker rooms, lounge facilities, and academic lounge study area, an entrance lobby with enhanced visitor amenities," said C.B. Akins Sr., Chair of the University Athletics Committee, reading off the proposal document.

The price tag for the facility is 45 million dollars, all to be privately funded.
The proposal states that the current training facility, Nutter Field House, will be available to athletes in other university sports.

"If approved by the board of trustees, this project will be submitted to the council on post-secondary education, and the capital projects and bond oversight committee for authorization at their February 2014 meeting," said Akins during the meeting.

The proposal was approved to go before the finance committee and board of trustees meeting for a vote coming up at one this afternoon.
