UK President gets his flu shot and encourages others to do the same

Posted: Thu 12:38 PM, Oct 04, 2012

University of Kentucky President, Eli Capilouto took time out of his schedule today to get his flu shot from a pharmacy student.

Third year pharmacy students at UK gave flu shots today to several university leaders. Students volunteered to give the president and his wife their flu shots.

It is American Pharmacists month and UK is focused on educating the public on the pharmacist's role in improving medication use and patient care.

President Capilouto makes it an annual visit to the Pharmacy School at UK to get vaccinated.

"The person that just gave me my flu shot, she told me that was only her third one. But it was so pain-free, you would have thought she'd given thousands. This was the place to come. Our students know how to do these things. The pharmacist's out in the community that we train know how to do these things. So they make it pretty easy," says President Capilouto.

President Capilouto says the more people that get vaccinated, the less of a chance the flu will have to spread through Lexington.
