LEXINGTON, Ky. (AP) - The University of Kentucky's Kentucky Digital Library has been picked to work with four others nationwide in a pilot project to launch The Digital Public Library of America.
Under the project, researchers could check the library and find results from all the programs involved. The Lexington Herald-Leader says the other four are Digital Library of Georgia; Minnesota Digital Library; Mountain West Digital Library of Utah, Nevada and Arizona; South Carolina Digital Library; and the Digital Commonwealth in Massachusetts. Harvard University is also providing some digitized collections initially to the project.
The grants total $350,000 over two years and are from the National Endowment for the Humanities, the John S. and James L. Knight Foundation and the Arcadia Fund. Statewide collaboration through the Council on Postsecondary Education will continue.
