UK falls at Georgia 72-62

Kentucky's post season hopes were seriously damaged Thursday night with a 72-62 loss to Georgia in Athens. It was UK's fourth straight double-digit loss on the road.

Kentucky led early in the game by as many as six. Georgia put together a 15-3 run to push in front 22-16. Kentavius Caldwell-Pope, the second leading scorer in the SEC, gave his team a huge lift nailing a 3-pointer at the halftime buzzer to give Georgia a 31-26 lead.

In the second half, Georgia moved ahead 50-40 on a 3-point play by Caldwell-Pope with 9:05 left on the clock. Kentucky closed the margin to 50-47 on a 3-pointer by Kyle Wiltjer with 7:44 left. Georgia answered with an 8-0 run, highlighted by a fast break slam by Caldwell-Pope to put the Dawgs up 58-47. The Georgia lead grew as big as 15.

Caldwell-Pope led Georgia with 24 points and grabbed 10 rebounds. Archie Goodwin led Kentucky with 20 but UK shot only 37 percent.

Kentucky concludes the season Saturday with Florida in Rupp Arena. Tipoff is scheduled for noon. Coverage on WKYT will begin at 11:30 a.m. with WIldcat Warmup.
